Loving Frank

A few years back, not knowing much about Frank Lloyd Wright, I went to Arizona and visited Taliesin West.  Taliesin struck me as so modern and ahead of it's time that I couldn't believe it was built in 1937.  Frank found perfect harmony with the the landscapes he was building into - not on top of.  Organic Architecture was Frank's point of view and what he lived by.

The Destruction of Penn Station

I was shopping in Moon River Chattel recently and stumbled across a book by the name of 'Old Penn Station'.  Having never seen photos of this railway station prior to it being torn down in 1963, I was blown away by it's beauty.  Have a look for yourself...

Ode to Bill

I just watched the Bill Cunningham documentary, Bill Cunningham New York, this week and fell in love with this sweet man and with New York all over again.  He was a pioneer in the 'street fashion' movement that is launching a thousand blogs at the current moment.  He uses photography to capture the simple beauty that walks down our city streets every day.

Rivers and Tides - Andy Goldsworthy

"At it's most successful, my "touch" looks into the heart of nature; most days I don't even get close.  These things are part of a transient process that I cannot understand unless my touch is also transient; only in this way can the cycle remain unbroken and the process be complete."

Joan Mitchell

I thought it would be nice to begin with paintings from the lovely, Joan Mitchell.   Who doesn't love a little Abstract Expressionism?
